It's back again! Seth MacFarlane's animated hit American Dad is making its grand return to Fox, officially scheduled for its second debut on the network in 2026. New episodes of MacFarlane's other successful series, Family Guy, will also premiere alongside it.
Bringing both shows back for the midseason represents a homecoming. Originally airing on Fox from 2005 to 2014, American Dad later moved to TBS and continued through March of this year. The return of both series is part of a strategy to maintain a strong, competitive standing in primetime television programming.
"Building on our winning position in key demographics and co-viewing this season, Fox's 2025-26 schedule is packed with irreverent humor, fun, and much-needed laughter," stated Fox Entertainment CEO Rob Wade in a release published by Variety. "More than ever, we're fulfilling that promise with an outstanding lineup designed to engage our audiences across broadcast, Hulu, and other platforms."

Fox is actively shaping its future programming strategy, recently announcing the name of its new streaming service. Dubbed Fox One, this platform will integrate news, sports, and entertainment into a single service. According to a network press release, it will offer both live streaming and on-demand access to Fox's complete brand library, including an option to bundle with Fox Nation all within one interface.
While a specific premiere date for American Dad's return to Fox has not been announced, we'll definitely be tuning in (and likely singing along to the theme song). It is also highly probable the show will be available on Fox One at that time, though official confirmation is expected sometime next year.
