GTA 6 Trailer 2 Sparks Surge for The Pointer Sisters

The Pointer Sisters' "Hot Together" has experienced a massive surge in Spotify streams after being featured in yesterday's premiere of the new Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer.

Global streams for the 1986 track skyrocketed by an incredible 182,000% in just the two hours following the trailer's debut. Spotify's data appears not to have been fully updated since yesterday, as "Hot Together" currently shows just over 250,000 streams, but that number is expected to climb significantly very soon.

"'Grand Theft Auto' resonates with popular culture like few other things can," said Spotify’s Global Head of Editorial, Sulinna Ong, in a statement. "Music has been integral to the series from the start, so it's fantastic to see both new and longtime fans engaging with such an iconic song."

It has now been a full day since Rockstar Games unveiled this latest glimpse of GTA 6. The trailer itself has already amassed an astonishing 77.7 million views on YouTube at the time of writing. The sudden success of "Hot Together" is remarkable, though not entirely unexpected. When Rockstar's first trailer dropped in late 2023, its featured song—Tom Petty's "Love Is A Long Road"—also saw a similarly enormous spike in Spotify streams. That track's popularity even led many gamers to speculate about its potential connection to GTA 6's story, a creative theory that hasn't yet emerged for "Hot Together."

Rockstar is providing eager fans with plenty of great music to enjoy while they await the (recently delayed) GTA 6 release date of May 26, 2026.
