Hyper Light Breaker Character Guide: Unlockable Breakers and Playstyles

Hyper Light Breaker offers diverse gameplay through its selection of characters, known as Breakers. Each Breaker possesses unique playstyles, impacting combat strategies. Unlocking new Breakers involves a straightforward process, though not explicitly detailed in-game. This guide covers all currently available characters and their acquisition. Note that this guide reflects the early access version; additional Breakers may be added later.

How to Unlock New Characters

To unlock new characters, you'll need Abyss Stones. These are dropped exclusively by Crowns (bosses). Before facing Crowns, you must obtain Prisms, acting as keys to boss arenas. Locate Prisms on the map by following the golden diamond icon.

After defeating a Crown, return to the Cursed Outpost teleporter. Select the Breaker you wish to unlock and spend your Abyss Stones to add them to your roster. While nine characters exist, currently only two are unlockable via Abyss Stones. The unlock method for future characters remains unconfirmed.

All Characters and Their SyComs

Each Breaker starts with a SyCom, a crucial item defining base stats and core perks, shaping their playstyle.

Vermillion

Vermillion's default SyCom, Gunslinger, favors ranged combat. Critical Rail shots guarantee a subsequent critical hit. His unlockable Tank SyCom rewards perfect parries with increased armor, offering superior defense and melee stats.

Lapis

Lapis initially uses Lightweaver, boosting Rail shot damage after collecting a Battery. Her unlockable Warrior SyCom enhances core stats with each upgrade, making her potentially the strongest Breaker late-game.

Goro

Goro is a ranged character. His Astrologer SyCom accelerates Blade skill charging while shooting. The unlockable Sniper SyCom directly increases critical hit rate, making him a high-risk, high-reward option.
