Nintendo has announced the pricing for upgrading two additional Switch titles from their original versions to the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition: Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree — and the cost is notably high.
While upgrading The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom costs $9.99 each to move from the Switch 1 version to the Switch 2 Edition, NintendoLife reported that both Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree upgrades are priced at more than double that amount per game.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Enhanced Edition of Breath of the Wild includes enhanced graphics and smoother performance, achievements, and compatibility with the new "Zelda Notes" feature in the Nintendo Switch Online app. Owners of the original Breath of the Wild on Switch won’t receive these improvements automatically but can buy a $10 "upgrade pack" to unlock them.
The Switch 2 Edition of Kirby and the Forgotten Land introduces fresh narrative content in the Star-Crossed World expansion. Super Mario Party Jamboree’s Switch 2 Edition features a new Jamboree TV mode that utilizes the Joy-Con 2’s mouse controls, the Switch 2’s built-in microphone, and an optional USB-C camera (sold separately). In addition to increased resolution — up to 1440p in TV mode — and improved frame rates, players can enjoy new minigames and enhanced online functionality.
Though U.S. prices haven’t appeared yet on the American Nintendo eShop — potentially due to uncertainty surrounding former President Trump’s tariffs — the UK Nintendo eShop lists the Kirby and the Forgotten Land upgrade at £16.99 / €19.99, significantly higher than the £7.99 / €9.99 charged to upgrade Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom.
The Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV upgrade is priced similarly, indicating a possible U.S. price of $19.99.
A $20 upgrade fee for both titles may be tied to the surprising $79.99 launch price of the complete Switch 2 Edition bundles: Kirby and The Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World, and Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV. The original Switch versions of both games are $20 less, priced at $59.99 each.
U.S. pricing for Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games (for new purchasers, not upgrades):
Kirby and The Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World - $79.99The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - $69.99Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV - $79.99The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - $79.99
It's worth noting that both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom upgrade packs are included at no extra cost for Nintendo Switch Online and Expansion Pack subscribers. As of now, no similar offer exists for players looking to upgrade Kirby and the Forgotten Land or Super Mario Party Jamboree.
Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders opened earlier today, April 24, with the console still priced at $449.99 — and availability quickly sold out, as anticipated. In related news, Nintendo has issued a notification to U.S. customers who secured a Switch 2 pre-order via the My Nintendo Store, advising that release-day delivery is not guaranteed due to overwhelming demand.
