It'll take nearly half the time to fully charge your Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller compared to the original model.
As reported by Nintendo Life, Nintendo has officially released the technical specifications for the upgraded $84.99 Switch 2 Pro Controller, confirming that it takes approximately three and a half hours to fully charge—assuming you're using the Nintendo Switch 2 AC adapter or a USB-C charging cable. This is a significant improvement over the six hours required to charge the original Pro Controller.
The best part? That faster charging doesn't compromise battery life. Much like its predecessor, the new Pro Controller 2 still delivers an impressive up to 40 hours of gameplay on a single charge. In addition, it features the new C button, two extra GL/GR buttons located on the underside, and offers a slightly more compact and lighter design than the original.

If you’re not ready to let go of your original controller, good news: Nintendo confirmed that the original Pro Controller will remain compatible with the new system.
Nintendo officially revealed the Switch 2 during a recent 60-minute Nintendo Direct event. While initial plans called for pre-orders to begin in early April in the U.S., uncertainty around tariffs prompted a delay to April 24. Despite this setback, Nintendo confirmed it would maintain the $449.99 price point for both the console and games. However, most Switch 2 accessories—including the Pro Controller, which increased from $80 to $85—did see a slight price bump.
