Nvidia RTX 5060 Debuts at $299, Offers Strong 1080p Performance

Nvidia unveiled the RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti in April 2025, with the budget-friendly GPU now hitting shelves after a Computex reveal.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060, priced from $299, boasts 3,840 CUDA cores across 30 Streaming Multiprocessors, ideal for 1080p gaming. Nvidia claims impressive performance, with the RTX 5060 reaching 223 fps in Doom: The Dark Ages at 1080p on max settings, though this relies on 4x Multi-Frame Generation.

This generation’s highlight is Multi-Frame Generation, and the RTX 5060, the most affordable option, fully supports this and the DLSS 4 technology suite. However, its 30 SMs impose some limits on DLSS performance.

The $299 price is just the starting point. While some models hit this mark, others are pricier, often featuring extras like factory overclocking and RGB lighting.

Reviews Are Coming... Later

Despite its attractive $299 MSRP, hold off on buying the RTX 5060 until performance reviews are out. Nvidia’s bold claims rely heavily on Multi-Frame Generation, and real-world results await lab testing.

Unlike prior launches like the RTX 5090, Nvidia isn’t providing early drivers to reviewers, delaying comprehensive reviews for about a week. The RTX 5060 promises solid 1080p gaming, but the Blackwell lineup has shown modest generational gains.

The RTX 5060 may mirror the RTX 5070’s performance boost over its predecessor, especially in non-frame-generation gaming. Nvidia suggests up to double the performance with frame generation enabled, but only a 20% uplift in games without ray tracing or frame generation, likely in optimal conditions.

As with any costly tech purchase, wait for reviews to ensure value for money. Reviews are on the way, but expect a short delay.
