Pokémon TCG Expands with Black Bolt and White Flare Sets

The Pokémon Company has revealed a dual expansion for the Pokémon TCG, extending the Scarlet & Violet series. Named Scarlet & Violet: Black Bolt and Scarlet & Violet: White Flare, both sets will launch globally at select retailers on July 18, 2025.

These expansions highlight the 156 Pokémon from the Unova region. Each Unova Pokémon will be featured as either an illustration rare or special illustration rare card, with unique versions available in Black Bolt and White Flare products.

Scarlet & Violet: Black Bolt showcases the Legendary Pokémon Zekrom, while Scarlet & Violet: White Flare highlights Reshiram. Both sets introduce three distinct parallel foil patterns, including two with a rainbow Poké Ball or Master Ball design across the card.

The expansions revive elements from the Black & White series, including nostalgic foil styles and Basic Energy cards styled after the original Black & White designs.

Pokémon TCG: Black Bolt and White Flare Preorder Details

Preorders for Black Bolt and White Flare are yet to be confirmed but are anticipated to start around mid-May. This aligns with the preorder timeline for another 2025 release, Pokémon TCG: Destined Rivals, launching this month.

A new card style, dubbed Black White rare, will debut, featuring full artwork in either black or white monochrome, depending on the expansion.

Players can access Scarlet & Violet: Black Bolt and White Flare digitally starting July 17, 2025, via the Pokémon TCG Live app on iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows. The digital release enables players to collect and battle with new Unova-region cards and unlock in-game login bonuses.
