Arknights: Endfield has officially unveiled new gameplay details at Gamescom 2024, revealing a surprising but exciting shift in direction for the long-anticipated spin-off: a Factorio-inspired base-building and resource management experience. While the original Arknights is known for its turn-based tactical combat and deep narrative, Endfield takes a bold step into simulation and strategy territory, drawing strong parallels to Factorio. The game centers around players managing a post-apocalyptic research outpost in the fractured world of Arknights, where they must construct and optimize complex production chains, automate resource gathering, and defend their base from waves of hostile anomalies and enemy forces. Key features showcased at Gamescom include: Resource Management & Automation: Players collect raw materials (like scrap, energy crystals, and rare metals) and build conveyor belts, assemblers, and power grids to create advanced equipment and reinforcements. Base Defense Integration: Unlike traditional factory games, Endfield features a tactical layer where automated turrets and sentry drones must be strategically placed to hold off incoming threats while your base grows. Narrative Depth: Despite its simulation focus, Endfield retains the lore-rich world of Arknights, with story missions and character-driven quests that tie into the larger Arknights mythos.
