If you're a fan of Alan Wake 2, you may already know that the game has been making waves—not just for its gripping narrative and gameplay, but also for its platform exclusivity. A recent Reddit post revealed an email exchange between a curious player and Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney, where the user asked a simple yet important question: will Alan Wake 2 ever launch on Steam?

Sweeney’s response was brief and to the point—there are no plans to bring the game to Steam. His reply offered no further explanation or future considerations, leaving the fan disappointed. As a result, the user announced their decision to purchase the game on Xbox instead.

What makes Alan Wake 2 different from many other Epic Games Store titles is that Epic not only published the game but also played a key financial role in its development alongside Remedy Entertainment. Despite this significant investment, Remedy reported that the title met business expectations and expressed satisfaction with the partnership.

However, looking ahead, Remedy has confirmed it will self-publish its upcoming games, which opens the door for future releases to appear on platforms like Steam. That said, more than a year after its release, Alan Wake 2 still hasn’t turned a profit—highlighting the challenges even successful projects can face in today’s competitive market.
