The stress test for the eighth, and possibly the final major patch of Baldur's Gate III, has officially kicked off. Some Sony console players had the chance to dive in early, but for those who prefer not to participate in the testing phase, the developers suggest reinstalling the game for a fresh start.
Patch 8 introduces a significant feature: crossplay, enabling players across consoles and PC to join forces in the game. This update allows you to invite friends from different platforms, provided you have a linked Larian account. A fascinating aspect is that even modded gameplay will support cross-platform play, but with specific conditions. All mods used by the PC player must be compatible with Mac and consoles, and the host’s lobby should not exceed a double-digit number of installed mods.
In the realm of multiplayer, a much-anticipated feature is now in testing: split-screen co-op on the Xbox Series S. This lower-powered console previously did not support split-screen play, so this update is excellent news for its users, addressing a notable point of contention.
Other exciting additions in Patch 8 include a photo mode with extensive customization options and 12 new subclasses, adding more diversity to your gameplay experience. Larian has also tackled bug fixes and rebalanced elements, although some issues still linger. For a comprehensive list of changes during the stress test, check out the game's official page.
