Rune Slayer Beginner Tips
Here are some crucial tips that would have made our initial foray into Rune Slayer much smoother.
Do Not Randomly Attack Other Players
When we first heard about Rune Slayer's full-loot PvP system, we braced for chaos. However, our fears were mostly unfounded. In Rune Slayer, death doesn’t mean losing your gear—you simply respawn and continue playing.
However, attacking other players comes with consequences. Each player you kill adds to your bounty, and the higher your bounty, the more items you'll drop upon death. So, if you want to avoid turning Rune Slayer into a full-loot PvP experience, refrain from attacking other players unless you have a compelling reason or the support of a group.
Craft Bags ASAP
You'll quickly realize that both your bank space and inventory are quite limited. With only 50 slots, your inventory can fill up fast. To expand your carrying capacity, craft bags as soon as possible. You can equip up to two bags, starting with the Cotton Bag.
To craft a Cotton Bag, gather Cotton from north of Wayshire and Flax from the south. Be cautious when heading south due to the presence of dangerous mobs. Each Cotton Bag adds an extra 10 slots to your inventory, so don't delay in crafting them.
Your Pets Don’t Actually Die
There's a common misconception that your tamed pets die permanently when their health reaches zero. In reality, when your pet "dies," it becomes unsummonable for 5 minutes. You can check the cooldown by holding T. Once the cooldown is over, hold T again to summon your pet back.
Bonus Tip: To quickly heal your pet, store and unstore it at the stable master. You have one free slot, so make use of it.
Grab All the Quests (Yes, All of Them)
Rune Slayer is packed with numerous quests, most of which are not repeatable and can blend into the background. To manage them effectively, accept every quest you encounter, including those from the Job board. Completing multiple quests simultaneously is far more efficient than tackling them one by one. You'll often find yourself completing several quests at once without even realizing it.
Craft Everything at Least Once (Even Things You Don’t Need)
While it's essential to craft what you need, don't hesitate to use spare materials to craft items you don't immediately require. Crafting items for the first time can unlock new, more powerful crafts. For example, smelting your first Iron Ore unlocked a range of new Iron Armor recipes for us. So, be generous with your materials and experiment with crafting.
Join a Guild
Although Rune Slayer is designed to be solo-friendly, you'll eventually encounter tougher enemies that are best tackled in groups. Joining a guild is the easiest way to find teammates for these challenging encounters. Use general chat or the official Rune Slayer Discord server to find a guild that suits your playstyle.
And that’s all you need to know to get started in Rune Slayer. Enjoy your adventure, and if you haven't yet, be sure to check out the Rune Slayer Trello and Discord for more tips and community support.
