Publisher 505 Games and developer ArtPlay have revealed Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement, a prequel to Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night scheduled for 2026.
Set in 16th century England prior to the events of Ritual of the Night, The Scarlet Engagement follows two new heroes battling demonic forces emerging from a mysterious floating castle ruled by Demon Lord Elias. Players control dual protagonists—Leonard Brandon of the Church's Black Wolves clan and Alexander Kyteler, knight of the White Stags—as they unite to overthrow Elias' reign of terror.
Helmed by Koji Igarashi (creator of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night), The Scarlet Engagement introduces fresh characters while maintaining connections to Ritual of the Night's lore—accessible both to series veterans and newcomers.
The game features dual protagonist gameplay with Leonard and Alexander, combo-based combat, and expansive environments affected by a dynamic day-night cycle that alters gameplay mechanics. Players can expect crafting systems, culinary mechanics, and deep customization options.
While lacking a precise launch date, Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement will release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S in 2026.
