Firaxis Games announced this in a February 28, 2025 update, prioritizing the implementation of crucial quality-of-life improvements instead. This decision follows community feedback regarding aspects of the game, particularly the user interface (UI).

Update 1.1.0, launching March 4, 2025 (with a separate Nintendo Switch release date), will focus on these enhancements. Firaxis acknowledges the mixed reception since early access and commits to addressing player concerns.

Update 1.1.0 will include:

• A free new natural wonder: the Bermuda Triangle.
• Significant UI improvements based on player feedback.
• Substantial changes to the Modern Age's Cultural Legacy Path and Victory, enhancing AI performance in achieving Cultural Victories.
• Release of the first half of the paid Crossroads of the World Collection for owners of relevant editions.

Future Updates and Beyond

A further major update is planned for March 25, 2025 (subject to change), continuing the UI overhaul. Future plans include:

• A "one more turn" feature extending gameplay beyond the Modern Age.
• Auto-explore functionality.
• New map sizes for PC and consoles (excluding Switch).
• Multiplayer improvements.
