In *Assassin's Creed Shadows*, the choice between confronting Wakasa or Otama during the "The Tea Ceremony" mission significantly impacts the rest of your campaign. Both characters provide reasons to be suspicious, but there's a clear choice that simplifies your journey through this quest.
Should You Confront Wakasa or Otama in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?
After the tea ceremony in *Assassin's Creed Shadows*, you should confront Wakasa because she is the Golden Teppo of the Onryo. Identifying her correctly leads to the easiest way to eliminate her.
When you choose to confront Wakasa, she invites Naoe to her home for a private discussion. Upon entering her abode, you'll notice the kasa (straw hat) she wore during the prologue as the Onryo hanging on her wall, confirming your choice. After some dialogue, the scene culminates with Naoe retrieving Wakasa's Teppo from the wall and shooting her at point-blank range, swiftly concluding the mission.

What If You Confront Otama in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?
If you mistakenly confront Otama after the tea ceremony, you'll still be able to kill Wakasa, but the path becomes much more challenging. Confronting Otama leads Naoe to chase and eliminate her, but a letter on Otama reveals her own corruption. Meanwhile, Wakasa escapes to Osaka Castle, fortifying herself with her soldiers.
To reach Wakasa, you must travel to Osaka Castle, either fighting her soldiers or using stealth to bypass them. If you've unlocked the nearby Osaka Tenshu fast travel point, you can get closer, but you'll still encounter standard enemies. Even if you manage to sneak up on Wakasa for an assassination, you'll need to engage in at least a one-on-one fight. While the boss fight isn't overly difficult, choosing to confront Wakasa directly offers a less complicated and more satisfying cinematic kill, especially considering her role in Naoe's father's death.
