Dell, Alienware RTX 4090 Gaming PC Now $2,850

Author: Andrew May 12,2025

The GeForce RTX 4090, though a generation older than the new Blackwell 50 series GPUs, remains one of the most powerful graphics cards available. It outshines the GeForce RTX 5080, RTX 4080 Super, Radeon RX 9070 XT, and RX 7900 XTX. Only the RTX 5090 surpasses it in performance, and securing one without significant price markups is a challenge.

With the RTX 4090 now discontinued, finding one has become increasingly difficult. Fortunately, Dell offers two prebuilt gaming PCs that come equipped with this powerhouse GPU at competitive prices. The Alienware Aurora R16 starts at $3,299.99, while the Dell Tower Plus is available from $2,849.99. These are currently the most affordable options for a gaming PC with an RTX 4090, as other manufacturers like Lenovo and HP have discontinued their RTX 4090 prebuilt offerings.

Alienware Aurora R16 RTX 4090 Gaming PC

---------------------------------------

Alienware Aurora R16 Intel Core Ultra 7 265F RTX 4090 Gaming PC

Priced at $3,299.99 at Alienware, this Alienware Aurora R16 gaming PC features an Intel Core Ultra 7 265F CPU, a GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, 16GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. The processor can be upgraded to an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, though for gaming, the default Intel Core Ultra 7 265F is sufficient with its 5.3GHz max turbo frequency and 20 cores. The system is cooled by a 240mm all-in-one liquid cooler and powered by a 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply.

Dell Tower Plus RTX 4090 Gaming PC

New Dell Tower Plus Intel Core Ultra 7 265F RTX 4090 Gaming PC

Available for $2,849.99 after a 10% discount from its original price of $3,149.99 at Dell, the Dell Tower Plus offers similar specs including an Intel Core Ultra 7 265F CPU, a GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, 16GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. Upgrading to the Intel Core Ultra 7 285K for an additional $100 is recommended, as it not only enhances performance but also upgrades the cooling to a more robust "advanced air cooling" system, suitable for a 125W TDP. The system is powered by a 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply.

How does the RTX 4090 stack up against current cards?

-----------------------------------------------------

The RTX 4090 stands as the most potent RTX 40 series GPU currently available. When compared to the Blackwell series, only the RTX 5090, with its $2,000 MSRP, outperforms it. This card excels at running games at 4K resolution, achieving over 60fps with maximum settings and ray tracing enabled, particularly when DLSS is in use. The only area where the RTX 4090 (and other GPUs) falls short is path tracing, which is typically used for benchmarks or showcasing on social media. While the RTX 5090 may offer superior performance, for most gamers, the RTX 4090's capabilities are more than sufficient.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 GPU Review by Chris Coke

"The RTX 4090 is a behemoth, both in size and price, yet it undeniably outclasses the competition. As the sole representative of its generation currently available, it's compared against older models, and it shines with its exceptional hardware and DLSS 3 AI technology. The $1,599 price tag seems justified when you consider the unmatched frame rates it delivers."
