How Doctor Doom 2099 Works in Marvel Snap

Doctor Doom 2099 is a 4-cost, 2-power card with a unique ability: "After each turn, add a DoomBot 2099 to a random location if you played (exactly) 1 card." These DoomBot 2099s (also 4-cost, 2-power) provide an ongoing buff: "Ongoing: Your other DoomBots and Doom have +1 Power." This buff even applies to regular Doctor Doom and his DoomBots!

The strategy revolves around playing exactly one card per turn after summoning Doom 2099. This maximizes DoomBot 2099 deployment, potentially generating significant power. Early deployment or extending the game with Magik further amplifies this effect. Think of Doom 2099 as a potentially 17-power card (or more!) if played optimally.

However, there are drawbacks. The random placement of DoomBots can hinder your strategy, and Enchantress completely negates their power boost.

Best Doctor Doom 2099 Decks in Marvel Snap

Doctor Doom 2099's one-card-per-turn requirement makes it a strong fit for Spectrum-style Ongoing decks. Here's a sample deck:

Ant-Man, Goose, Psylocke, Captain America, Cosmo, Electro, Doom 2099, Wong, Klaw, Doctor Doom, Spectrum, Onslaught.

This budget-friendly deck (only Doom 2099 is a Series 5 card) offers flexibility. Aim for early Doom 2099 placement using Psylocke or Electro. Psylocke allows for powerful Wong/Klaw/Doctor Doom combos, while Electro enables strong plays with Onslaught, DoomBots, and Spectrum. Cosmo protects against Enchantress. If early Doom 2099 fails, shift to a strategy centered around Doctor Doom or Spectrum buffs.

Alternatively, consider a Patriot-style deck:

Ant-Man, Zabu, Dazzler, Mister Sinister, Patriot, Brood, Doom 2099, Super Skrull, Iron Lad, Blue Marvel, Doctor Doom, Spectrum.

This also features only Doom 2099 as a Series 5 card. The early game focuses on Patriot-style cards like Mister Sinister and Brood. Zabu discounts 4-cost cards for flexibility. The late game utilizes Doom 2099, Blue Marvel, Doctor Doom, or Spectrum. Note that you can strategically skip DoomBot 2099 generation to play powerful cards like Patriot and Iron Lad on the final turn. Super Skrull provides a counter to other Doom 2099 decks, a crucial consideration given its expected prevalence. However, this deck remains vulnerable to Enchantress.

Is Doctor Doom 2099 Worth Spotlight Cache Keys or Collector’s Tokens?

While the other cards in the Spotlight Cache (Daken and Miek) are less impactful, Doctor Doom 2099 is a worthwhile investment. His power and deck-building versatility make him a likely meta staple. Use Collector's Tokens if available, but don't hesitate to acquire him this month. He's poised to be one of Marvel Snap's most influential cards.
