DOOM Classics Receive Content Update

While eagerly awaiting the release of DOOM: The Dark Ages, many are revisiting the classic DOOM games. Good news for fans: a recent update has significantly enhanced the DOOM and DOOM 2 experience.

This update boasts improved technical stability and more! Crucially, it now supports multiplayer modifications. For compatibility, these mods must be built using Vanilla DOOM, DeHackEd, MBF21, or BOOM. Cooperative gameplay has also seen upgrades, including item sharing and an observer mode for players awaiting revival. Network code optimization further refines the multiplayer experience. Finally, the mod loader's capacity has been boosted, handling more than the initial 100+ subscribed mods.

Looking ahead to DOOM: The Dark Ages, accessibility is a key focus. The game will offer unparalleled customization options, exceeding previous id Software titles. Executive producer Marty Stratton highlights the team's commitment to broad accessibility.

Players will have extensive control over enemy damage and difficulty, projectile speed and damage, and other key gameplay elements such as pace, enemy aggression, and parry timing. Stratton also confirmed that prior DOOM experience isn't required to understand the narratives of DOOM: The Dark Ages and DOOM: Eternal.
