A Decade in the Making
The development of Dragon Age: The Veilguard has been a marathon, not a sprint. Numerous delays, spanning almost a decade, have punctuated its journey. Development began in 2015, post-Dragon Age: Inquisition, but was impacted by BioWare's focus on Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem. The initial design, codenamed "Joplin," didn't align with the company's live-service strategy, leading to a complete development halt.
The project was resurrected in 2018 under the codename "Morrison," eventually announced as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2022 before settling on its current title.
Despite the challenges, the wait is nearly over. Dragon Age: The Veilguard is slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S this fall. Prepare yourselves, Thedas awaits!
