Dragon Quest X Hits Mobile in Japan

Long-time fans of the iconic Dragon Quest series are in for a treat, albeit only in Japan, as Dragon Quest X, the MMORPG-like entry in the franchise, is making its way to mobile devices. Starting tomorrow, Japanese fans can dive into the offline version of Dragon Quest X on both iOS and Android platforms. This offline iteration, aptly named Dragon Quest X Offline, offers a single-player experience and is available for a premium purchase. Interestingly, this isn't the first time Dragon Quest X was eyed for a mobile release; Ubitu had plans to bring it to mobile back in 2013, though it never materialized.

Dragon Quest X stands out from its predecessors with its real-time combat and MMORPG elements, a departure from the traditional Dragon Quest formula. The offline version, initially released in 2022 for consoles and PC, follows the original game's debut in 2012. This mobile adaptation is currently offered at a discounted price, making it an attractive option for Japanese fans eager to experience this unique entry in the series on their smartphones.

ytHere be dragons

Unfortunately, international fans should not hold their breath for a global release just yet. The original Dragon Quest X was exclusive to Japan, and while the offline version's mobile release is exciting, there's currently no news on a worldwide launch. As a dedicated Dragon Quest enthusiast, especially fond of classics like Sentinels of the Starry Sky, the prospect of enjoying a different take on the series on mobile is certainly appealing.
