The Fantastic Four: First Steps Trailer Reveals The Thing's Rock Beard and Silver Surfer's Metallic Voice

Marvel Studios has dropped a new trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, filled with never-before-seen footage.

The trailer highlights The Thing with a rocky beard as Human Torch flies him through the skies. We also catch brief glimpses of Mister Fantastic stretching his form, Invisible Woman expanding her abilities, and just a hint of Galactus—though his full reveal is still withheld.

Elsewhere, the Silver Surfer appears more prominently than ever, her metallic voice announcing Galactus’ arrival. The Thing’s refusal to say “It’s clobberin’ time!” becomes a recurring gag throughout the clip.

Fans have noticed that The Fantastic Four unfolds over months, not days, especially since we see Sue Storm both before and after giving birth to Franklin Richards.

Though the trailer delivers plenty of new visuals, Marvel Studios is clearly holding back even more. Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards—complete with a mustache that’s sparked intense fan debate—is shown extending his arm and leg as he leaps onto a platform, and again when he seems to embed something into Galactus’ leg, but the full scope of his powers remains hidden.

Likewise, Galactus’ face has yet to appear in live-action, though we’ve glimpsed him in other ways. We see his chest as he stirs to life, and of course, his massive footsteps shake alternate-history New York City.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps will launch Phase Six of the MCU, introducing Marvel’s First Family to heroes like Captain America, Thor, and the X-Men in next year’s Avengers: Doomsday. Earlier this month, director Matt Shakman addressed the big question of whether Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom will appear in the film—and appeared to confirm the character won’t be in it.
