The highly anticipated final installment of the FF7 Remake trilogy will debut on the PlayStation 5, according to producers Yoshinori Kitase and director Naoki Hamaguchi. This confirmation, shared during a January 23, 2025 interview with 4Gamer, alleviates concerns among PlayStation fans following the staggered releases of previous installments.

While Square Enix remains tight-lipped about the exact release date, Hamaguchi offered an encouraging update during a Famitsu interview on the same day. He stated that development is progressing smoothly, with a playable build demonstrating the game's direction completed by the end of 2024. A March 6, 2024 report from the Washington Post suggests PlayStation secured timed exclusivity for the entire FF7 Remake trilogy. Following the pattern of previous releases (one year for FF7 Remake on PS4, six months for FF7 Remake Intergrade on PS5, and a similar period for FF7 Rebirth), Part 3 is likely to enjoy a period of PS5 exclusivity before launching on other platforms.

Square Enix's Multi-Platform Shift:

Despite the success of the FF7 Remake series, Square Enix's financial report from March 31, 2024 revealed declining sales in its HD titles. In response, the company announced a strategic shift towards a multi-platform approach, encompassing Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. This suggests that while Part 3 will initially launch on PS5, a wider release across various platforms is highly probable.
