Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 development well underway - game director

Game director Hamaguchi recently provided an update on the highly anticipated sequel, urging fans to exercise patience as new details will be revealed at a later date. The team is diligently working on the project, he confirmed.

Hamaguchi highlighted the success of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth in 2024, citing numerous awards and widespread player acclaim. This success fuels the team's ambition to broaden the FFVII fanbase with the unique challenges planned for the third installment.

Interestingly, Hamaguchi also mentioned being impressed by Grand Theft Auto VI, expressing his admiration for the Rockstar Games team and acknowledging the immense pressure they face following GTA V's phenomenal success.

Specifics regarding the third game remain undisclosed, although Hamaguchi assures fans that development is progressing smoothly. This is noteworthy given the recent release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth less than a year ago. However, he promises a truly unique gaming experience.

Despite this positive outlook, the May 2024 launch of Final Fantasy XVI fell short of projected sales targets, with the exact figures remaining unannounced. Similarly, sales of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth also underperformed initial forecasts, though Square Enix has clarified that it doesn't view the results as a complete failure. The company remains confident that Final Fantasy XVI can still meet its sales goals within the allotted 18-month timeframe.
