F-Zero Climax and F-Zero: GP Legend on Switch OnlineNintendo has just announced the arrival of two classic Game Boy Advance racing titles to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack: F-Zero Climax and F-Zero: GP Legend!

Launching October 11, 2024

F-Zero Climax and F-Zero: GP Legend on Switch OnlinePrepare for high-octane action as these futuristic racing games join the lineup on October 11th. This marks the first time the Japan-exclusive F-Zero Climax will be available outside of Japan.

The F-Zero franchise, a cornerstone of Nintendo's history, debuted in Japan over 30 years ago (1990). Known for its groundbreaking speed and visuals for its time (especially on the SNES), it's a critical darling that influenced other racing franchises like SEGA's Daytona USA.

Like Mario Kart, F-Zero features intense racing, track obstacles, and competitive battles between racers and their unique "F-Zero machines." The series' iconic protagonist, Captain Falcon, even made his mark in the Super Smash Bros. series.

F-Zero: GP Legend initially launched in Japan in 2003, with a global release following in 2004. F-Zero Climax, released in Japan in 2004, remained region-locked until now, making it a highly anticipated addition for many players. Its release also marks the end of a nearly two-decade hiatus for the series, only recently broken by the release of the Switch's F-Zero 99. F-Zero game designer Takaya Imamura has attributed the series' dormancy, in part, to the overwhelming popularity of Nintendo's Mario Kart franchise.

This October 2024 update to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack brings both F-Zero Climax and F-Zero: GP Legend, offering Grand Prix races, story modes, and time trials. Get ready to compete for the top spot!
