Civ 7 Devs Consider Bringing Back Past Civilizations and Their Leaders
There is Still Hope for Gandhi and Other Civilization Leaders
Fans of Civilization 7 can hold onto hope for Gandhi's return, as hinted during an IGN interview with lead designer Ed Beach on February 13, 2025. Beach indicated that while Gandhi might not be part of the initial launch, he could potentially be introduced later through a DLC.
During the IGN interview, Beach shed light on the absence of certain civilizations and their leaders in Civ 7. "We haven't forgotten about anybody who's been in our game before," Beach assured. "There's a lot of concern about the absence of Great Britain or England, and why they're not in our game."
Beach explained that the decision to exclude countries like Britain and India stemmed from the necessity to make tough choices. "There are just too many popular choices, and we always want to introduce a few new and exciting civilizations," he stated. "Some have to be left behind, but we're always considering the bigger picture for when to bring back leaders or civilizations. So, there's still hope for Gandhi."
Given the extensive history of DLC releases in Civilization 6, it's reasonable to anticipate that Gandhi could eventually find his way into Civ 7. However, the precise timeline for his return remains uncertain at this point.
