A former Rockstar veteran has weighed in on recent rumors suggesting that a re-release of Grand Theft Auto 4 (GTA 4) for the latest generation of consoles could be on the horizon, expressing his belief that the game deserves a remaster.

The buzz about a potential GTA 4 re-release was sparked by Tez2, a well-known figure within the GTA community for leaking Rockstar information. Tez2 hinted that a modern port of GTA 4 might be released this year, and suggested that this project was the reason behind Rockstar's recent decision to shut down a GTA 5 Liberty City mod.

However, it's crucial to note that Rockstar has not officially announced any plans for a GTA 4 re-release. Such a move would be surprising, considering the company's current focus on developing GTA 6.

Every Celebrity in GTA 4

Although he was unaware of any plans for a re-release, Vermeij stated that GTA 4 "should be remastered," praising it as a "great game" and referencing the success of recent remasters like The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.

Vermeij further expressed his desire to see GTA 4 updated, emphasizing that Niko, the game's protagonist, remains the best in the GTA series. He suggested that a potential remaster could utilize the latest version of Rockstar's Rage engine.

PlayIt's important to reiterate that Rockstar has not indicated any plans to remaster *GTA 4*. Given the monumental task of developing *GTA 6*, a simultaneous project of this magnitude might be beyond even Rockstar's extensive capabilities. While outsourcing to another studio, as was done with *Red Dead Redemption*, is a possibility, the timing of a *GTA 4* re-release in 2025 seems unlikely, especially considering *GTA 6*'s planned fall 2025 release. Launching both games in the same timeframe could split the audience's focus away from *GTA 6*.

On the topic of GTA settings, some fans speculate that Liberty City, the series' version of New York City and the setting for GTA 4 and GTA: Chinatown Wars, might appear in GTA 6, either at launch or as post-launch DLC. GTA 6 is set in the fictional state of Leonida, which includes Vice City, the game's take on Miami.

As we await further developments, there's plenty more to explore about GTA 6, including detailed information, 70 new screenshots, and expert analysis on how the game will perform on the PS5 Pro.
