Speculation Mounts: Will GTA 6 Arrive on PC?
Take-Two Interactive's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, recently hinted at a potential future PC release for Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6), fueling anticipation among fans. While an official announcement is pending, Rockstar Games' history with major titles suggests a PC port is likely.
Take-Two's Stance on PC Releases
In a February 10, 2025 interview with IGN, Zelnick confirmed that Civilization 7 will launch simultaneously on consoles and PC. However, he noted that Rockstar Games often adopts a staggered release strategy for its titles, initially launching on select platforms before expanding to others. This aligns with the release history of GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, both initially released on consoles before later arriving on PC.
While not explicitly confirming a PC release for GTA 6, Zelnick's comments strongly suggest it's under consideration. The significant revenue generated by PC ports (up to 40% of total sales, according to Zelnick) further supports this possibility.
Strong Sales Expected Across All Platforms
Despite declining console sales, Zelnick expressed confidence in GTA 6's performance across all platforms, believing its release will boost console sales for both Sony and Microsoft. He emphasized the growing importance of the PC market and its increasing share in the overall gaming landscape.
GTA 6 is slated for a Fall 2025 release, but a specific PC launch date remains unannounced. Stay tuned to our Grand Theft Auto 6 page for the latest updates.
Expanding Horizons: Take-Two and Rockstar on Nintendo Switch 2
During Take-Two Interactive's Q3 Fiscal Conference Call on February 6, 2025, Zelnick indicated a growing interest in bringing their games to the Nintendo Switch 2. This shift in strategy reflects Nintendo's broadening appeal beyond its traditionally younger demographic. With Civilization 7 already confirmed for the Switch 2, the possibility of future Rockstar titles, including potential future ports, on the platform seems increasingly likely.
