Navigating the expansive and often desolate Synthwave world of the Overgrowth in Hyper Light Breaker can be a daunting task. However, the game equips players with a Hoverboard from the very beginning, a feature that significantly enhances mobility. The Hoverboard serves not just as a means of transportation but as an integral part of the game's sprint mechanic, allowing you to traverse vast distances with ease as your Energy slowly depletes. This guide delves into the mechanics of using the Hoverboard and highlights its various functionalities that go beyond mere traversal.
How To Summon A Hoverboard In Hyper Light Breaker
To engage your Hoverboard in Hyper Light Breaker, simply hold down the Dodge input. This action prompts your Breaker to dash forward and seamlessly transition onto the Hoverboard, provided you maintain the Dodge input.
Controlling the Hoverboard is straightforward. By tilting the left analog stick in any direction, you can steer the board, with the degree of turn influenced by your current speed. At top speeds, maneuvers become more gradual, whereas at lower speeds, control is more responsive.
To dismount the Hoverboard, release the Dodge input. Additionally, the Hoverboard will automatically retract if your Energy is depleted while in use.
Your Energy level is visible next to your Breaker's companion during Hoverboard or Glider use. It's wise to periodically dismount and allow your Energy to recharge if it runs low to avoid an untimely dismount.
Hoverboard Movement Tips & Special Uses
While the Hoverboard in Hyper Light Breaker doesn't support tricks or combat, it boasts several unique features and uses. One standout capability is its ability to float on water, enabling you to cross rivers and inlets without detours. The mechanics remain consistent whether you're on land or water.
Note that you cannot summon the Hoverboard while underwater; it must be activated before entering the water to glide across the surface. Regardless of your entry speed or jump height, the Hoverboard will swiftly adjust to keep you afloat.
Another useful feature is the ability to duck and prepare for a jump by holding the default Jump input while on the Hoverboard. Although double-jumping is not possible, the increased speed can help you leap across wider gaps. Ducking does not boost your speed or jump height, but it aids in timing jumps more precisely, enhancing your control over challenging maneuvers.
