In a recent interview with ScreenRant before the release of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Idris Elba, who voices Knuckles the Echidna and will share the screen with Keanu Reeves' Shadow the Hedgehog, shared his excitement for a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 project. When asked about reuniting with Reeves, who portrayed the iconic Johnny Silverhand, Elba responded with enthusiasm, "Oh, man, that's a great question. Reeves brought the character of Johnny Silverhand to life in the original game, while Elba joined the Cyberpunk universe as Solomon Reed, an experienced FIA sleeper agent, in the 2023 DLC, Phantom Liberty.

The idea of a Cyberpunk 2077 live-action project isn't just a pipe dream. In October 2023, Variety reported that CD Projekt Red (CDPR), the creators of the game, are collaborating with Anonymous Content, the media company behind hits like True Detective, Mr. Robot, The Revenant, and Spotlight, on this venture. Although a year has passed without further updates, the success of the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners animated series and the five-season run of the live-action adaptation of The Witcher 3 suggests that a Cyberpunk 2077 film is well within reach.
