After more than five years since its initial announcement, we are finally getting our first proper look at IO Interactive's new James Bond game. Originally teased as Project 007, the official title is now 007: First Light, with a reveal scheduled for this week.

In a post on Twitter/X today, developer IO Interactive shared a still image, presumably showing James Bond in silhouette, faintly illuminated by a single beam of light. The text reads "First Light 007" and "Game reveal this week," accompanied by the hashtag "#EarnTheNumber." This likely references the game's origin story premise, focusing on Bond earning his iconic 007 designation.

The post did not provide further details, but it is highly probable the game will appear during one of the upcoming showcases tied to Summer Game Fest, Summer of Gaming, or other early June gaming events.

007: First Light was first announced in 2020 as Project 007. Since then, information has been scarce. We know it is an original James Bond origin story, not based on any specific film. IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak has expressed hope that this will launch a new game trilogy. However, development has placed the studio's Hitman franchise on hold. It was also confirmed in April that, alongside PC, PlayStation, and Xbox versions, the game will launch on Nintendo Switch 2.
