Japanese Switch 2 Priced Lower Than Global Version

Author: George Apr 17,2025

Are you eager to get your hands on the new Nintendo Switch 2? Brace yourself, as the pricing might surprise you, especially if you're comparing the Japanese version to its global counterpart. The Switch 2 will come in two distinct versions: a Japanese-language system, exclusively available in Japan, and a Multi-Language System for worldwide markets.

Switch 2 Will Have 2 Language System Versions

In Japan, the Nintendo Switch 2 will be available at a significantly lower price point of around $330. This is in stark contrast to the Multi-Language System version, which will be priced at $449.99 worldwide—a difference of over $100. This pricing strategy reflects the current economic situation, particularly the weakened yen, which has made purchasing in Japan less attractive for tourists.

For those living in Japan, both versions will be available for purchase. However, the Japanese-language system is exclusively for sale within Japan and requires a Nintendo Account set to Japan as the Country/Region. This version will only support the Japanese language and will be limited to software available on the Japanese Nintendo eShop.

If you're planning to use the Switch 2 in languages other than Japanese, Nintendo recommends opting for the Multi-Language System version. Stay tuned for more details on this version, set to be released on April 4.
