Jon Bernthal's iconic portrayal of the Punisher is set to make a thrilling comeback following the first season of *Daredevil: Born Again*. Fans can look forward to a Guardians of the Galaxy-style Marvel special that promises to deliver an explosive narrative. Entertainment Weekly has shared that Bernthal will not only star in but also co-write this special with the acclaimed director of *We Own This City*, Reinaldo Marcus Green.

Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel Television, described the special as a "shotgun blast of a story" that encapsulates the pathos and emotion integral to Frank Castle's character. "It's so exciting," Winderbaum enthused, hinting at the high-octane adventure and deep emotional resonance fans can anticipate.

The announcement of the Punisher one-shot arrives as Marvel Television gears up for the return of the Defenders on Disney+. This gritty street-level superhero team, featuring Matt Murdock's Daredevil, Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones, Mike Colter's Luke Cage, and Finn Jones' Iron Fist, previously captivated audiences on Netflix. Their adventures have now been seamlessly integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) canon on Disney+.

Brad Winderbaum expressed enthusiasm about exploring this realm, acknowledging the challenges of television production compared to the limitless possibilities of comic books. "Obviously, we don’t have the unlimited storytelling resources like a comic book, where if you can draw it, you can do it," he told Entertainment Weekly. "We’re dealing with actors and time and the massive scale of production in order to build a cinematic universe, especially on television. But I can just say that all those variables taken into account, it is certainly something that is creatively extremely exciting and that we are very much exploring."

Set to premiere on March 4, *Daredevil: Born Again* continues the saga that began on Netflix, with familiar faces like the Punisher and Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk (Kingpin) reprising their roles.
