Keanu Reeves offers the most encouraging Constantine 2 update yet, confirming the project is ready for a script.
John Constantine, the occult detective and exorcist from DC Comics, was memorably portrayed by Reeves in the 2005 film adaptation, a cult classic. For two decades, fans have clamored for a sequel, a desire Reeves has openly shared.
Now, Constantine 2 appears closer to reality following Reeves' confirmation of a recent successful pitch meeting at DC Studios.
"We've been pursuing this film for over a decade, and we just recently finalized a story and presented it to DC Studios. Their response was positive," Reeves told Inverse. "So, we're moving forward with the script."

While promising, it's crucial to remember that DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran haven't officially greenlit the script. Constantine 2 isn't yet confirmed for the rebooted DCU, and neither Gunn nor Safran has publicly mentioned it. The project remains precarious.
However, Reeves hinted that, if produced, Constantine 2 will remain consistent with the original film's universe. "We're staying true to that world," he assured, adding with a touch of humor: "John Constantine will face even more torment."
Reeves' statement follows comments from producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura in September. Di Bonaventura revealed that a Constantine 2 script existed but admitted his apprehension about reading it, fearing disappointment.
Speaking to ComicBook, di Bonaventura stated the script was in his inbox, expressing his desire for its quality: "It's in my inbox right now, oddly enough," he said. "I'm too scared to read it, though. I want it to be so good. I'll probably read it on my next flight."
