The much-anticipated survival horror zombie co-op FPS, Killing Floor 3, has faced a significant setback, with its release now postponed to later in 2025. This announcement, coming just three weeks before the game's planned launch on March 25th, follows a less-than-satisfactory closed beta phase.

On March 7th, 2025, Tripwire, the developer behind Killing Floor 3 (KF3), used the game’s official Bluesky account to share the disappointing news. They acknowledged the feedback from the closed beta and admitted that the game "missed the mark." In their statement, Tripwire emphasized their commitment to not only pushing the franchise forward but also preserving the core experience fans cherish. The team is now focusing on resolving issues related to "performance/stability, UI/UX, lighting, and weapon feel" that were highlighted during the beta.

Community feedback on social media was overwhelmingly negative, with players describing the beta as "insanely clunky and clumsy," and a "glitch-ridden, vomit-inducing wreck." A Reddit user, Captain_Pugman, expressed frustration on the game’s subreddit, questioning whether the developers had lost sight of what made Killing Floor special. Many criticized the shift towards a futuristic sci-fi theme, which they felt deviated from the series' horror roots, as well as the decision to lock classes to specific characters.

Despite the setbacks, Tripwire remains optimistic, promising fans a more polished version of Killing Floor 3 in the future. They assured followers that they would be the first to know once more details are ready to be shared, and thanked them for their patience and support.

In response to the delay, Senior Community Manager Yoshiro detailed the pre-order refund process on the Tripwire Interactive Killing Floor 3 forums. Pre-orders on PlayStation, Xbox, and the Epic Game Store will be automatically canceled and refunded. However, U.S. PlayStation users will have the option to either cancel and receive a refund or keep their pre-order for the new release date, with cancellation as the default if no action is taken.

Steam users, however, will need to manually initiate a refund request through Steam’s support system. Those who pre-ordered through other third-party platforms must coordinate directly with those vendors, adhering to their respective refund policies.
