Another gacha game bites the dust! KonoSuba: Fantastic Days Global, developed by Sumzap and published by Nexon (later Sesisoft), has officially ended its run today, January 30th. The servers are shutting down, marking the end of a chapter for fans.
A Relatively Short, But Respectable Run
While the global version lasted a respectable 3.5 years, the Japanese version enjoyed a longer lifespan of 5 years. This is a decent run for an anime-based gacha, especially considering revenue had been declining for some time.
The developers, clearly focused on their new Jujutsu Kaisen Phantom Parade gacha game, still supported KonoSuba until the very end. Recent updates included voiced story additions and a final song release just three weeks prior to shutdown. A farewell livestream in December even featured Kazuma's voice actor.
The Japanese version went above and beyond, archiving the entire main story on their YouTube channel, allowing players to revisit the antics of Kazuma and his crew. An offline version also provides continued access to the story, voice lines, and character collection.
Unfortunately, the global version lacks both an offline mode and a dedicated YouTube archive. However, fans can still access the Japanese YouTube channel for a continued KonoSuba experience.
