Krafton Considering Name Change for Dark & Darker Mobile

It appears that Dark and Darker Mobile, the eagerly awaited mobile version of the hack 'n slash extraction dungeon crawler, is poised for a significant transformation. Recent reports indicate that Krafton is not only contemplating a name change for the game but also plans to terminate its agreement with Ironmace Studio.

This development comes at a challenging time for Ironmace, which has just been mandated to pay $6 million in damages to Nexon following a lawsuit. The lawsuit stems from Nexon's allegations that Ironmace, founded by former Nexon employees, utilized trade secrets to develop Dark and Darker from a cancelled project known as P3.

Despite Krafton's assertion that the name change is unrelated to the lawsuit ruling, the company has also announced the termination of its global licensing agreement with Ironmace. Consequently, Dark and Darker Mobile—or whatever its new name might be—will proceed as a completely standalone release.

ytDarkest of dungeonsThe irony of this situation is palpable, especially considering Ironmace initially sued Nexon for copyright infringement. Even after severing ties with Ironmace, Krafton seems intent on continuing the project, albeit under a different guise. This move suggests that the genre's floodgates are now open, regardless of Nexon's actions against their new rival.

For fans eagerly awaiting Dark and Darker Mobile, this news may not be entirely negative. Krafton has confirmed that they will adhere to the previously announced global release schedule. However, should any changes arise or new developments occur, we will keep you informed.

We remain hopeful that the full launch of Dark and Darker Mobile will uphold the exceptional quality we highlighted in our review.
