Mai Shiranui Sparks Interest in Street Fighter 6

Street Fighter 6 welcomes a new fighter, reigniting player interest! The latest addition is Mai Shiranui, a popular character from the Fatal Fury franchise.

Capcom's Street Fighter 6, a resounding success, boasts 4.4 million copies sold as of December 31st, 2024. While some fans felt content updates were slow, the addition of Mai Shiranui has revitalized the game's popularity.

Mai Shiranui, the third character in the game's second season, significantly boosted Street Fighter 6's player base. Steam's peak concurrent players surged to over 63,000 on her release day, a dramatic increase from the previous peak of 24-27,000 – the highest since May 2024.

Access to Mai is granted through the Battle Pass. World Tour mode allows players to build relationships with Mai, learn her moves, and then put their skills to the test in Battle Hub. A second costume, drawing inspiration from her appearance in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, has also been added.

Adding to the excitement, Battle Hub features a temporary guest character: Professor Woshige, a renowned fighting game developer and legend. Players can experience his unique fighting style until March 10th. New Master League ranks and rewards have also been implemented.

Capcom released a trailer showcasing Mai Shiranui's impressive fighting techniques.
