Marvel Vs Capcom Legends Characters Return!

Capcom producer Shuhei Matsumoto hints at a possible return for the beloved original characters from Marvel vs. Capcom 2. Speaking at EVO 2024, Matsumoto stated that their return in a new game is "always a possibility," fueled by the upcoming release of the Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics.

This remastered collection, including Marvel vs. Capcom 2, features three original characters: Amingo, Ruby Heart, and SonSon, largely absent from recent entries beyond minor cameos. Matsumoto believes the collection's release will reintroduce these characters to a wider audience, potentially sparking enough interest for their inclusion in future titles like Street Fighter 6. He emphasized the creative potential this presents for Capcom, expanding their content pool.

Matsumoto revealed that the Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection has been in the works for several years, requiring extensive collaboration with Marvel. He also expressed Capcom's desire to create a new Versus series entry and re-release other legacy fighting games on modern platforms with rollback netcode. However, he acknowledged the challenges involved, including scheduling and collaborations with external parties.
