Marvel Rivals to Add 2 Heroes Every 3 Months

NetEase Games is committed to keeping the excitement alive for Marvel Rivals players through regular updates. The development team plans to roll out updates approximately every month and a half, introducing two new heroes every quarter. This strategy ensures that players always have fresh content to explore upon returning to the game.

In a recent interview, game director Guangyun Chen revealed that each seasonal update is divided into two parts. The first half of the season will introduce one new hero, followed by another in the second half. This approach aims to keep both the audience and the players engaged throughout the season.

Beyond new heroes, Marvel Rivals will also enhance gameplay with updates to maps, stories, and objectives. Characters like Blade, who is not yet playable, and Altron, known from leaks, have been introduced previously. Additionally, the entire Fantastic Four team has recently been unveiled, adding to the anticipation.

According to the Chinese publication GameLook, Marvel Rivals has generated around $100 million globally, with significant contributions from the Chinese market. Marvel's expansion into the gaming industry, following its dominance in film, marks a strategic move to capture a new audience.

Despite the challenges faced with Square Enix's Avengers, Marvel Rivals successfully filled a niche in the game-service genre. The NetEase studio delivered a high-quality heroic shooter with a roster of compelling characters, which was well-received upon its launch.
