Marvel Snap Deck Guide: September 2024 Edition
This month's Marvel Snap (Free) deck guide arrives a bit early to compensate for last month's delay. A new season brings new cards and potential meta shifts, so let's explore the strongest decks currently dominating the scene. Remember, the meta is fluid; today's top deck might be obsolete tomorrow. These suggestions offer a snapshot of the current landscape, but continuous experimentation is key.
Most decks listed assume a complete card collection. We'll cover five top-tier decks, plus a couple of more accessible and fun alternatives.
The recent Young Avengers card additions haven't drastically altered the meta, although Kate Bishop remains consistently strong and Marvel Boy bolsters 1-cost decks. The new Amazing Spider-Season and Activate ability, however, are game-changers, promising a significantly different meta next month.
Kazar and Gilgamesh – A Young Avenger Powerhouse
Cards: Ant-Man, Nebula, Squirrel Girl, Dazzler, Kate Bishop, Marvel Boy, Caeira, Shanna, Kazar, Blue Marvel, Gilgamesh, Mockingbird
This surprisingly strong deck leverages low-cost cards buffed by Kazar and Blue Marvel. Marvel Boy provides extra buffs, and Gilgamesh thrives in this high-buff environment. Kate Bishop offers additional placement flexibility and cost reduction for Mockingbird. Its consistent performance remains to be seen.
Silver Surfer Still Reigns Supreme – Part II
Cards: Nova, Forge, Cassandra Nova, Brood, Silver Surfer, Killmonger, Hope Summers, Nocturne, Sebastian Shaw, Copycat, Absorbing Man, Gwenpool
The Silver Surfer remains a dominant force, with minor adjustments for balance changes and new cards. The classic Nova/Killmonger combo provides early boosts. Forge enhances Brood's clones, Gwenpool boosts hand cards, Shaw benefits from buffs, Hope provides extra energy, Cassandra Nova drains opponent's power, and Surfer/Absorbing Man secures victory. Copycat replaces Red Guardian as a versatile tool.
Spectrum and Man-Thing Ongoing – A Persistent Threat
Cards: Wasp, Ant-Man, Howard the Duck, Armor, US Agent, Lizard, Captain America, Cosmo, Luke Cage, Ms. Marvel, Man-Thing, Spectrum
The Ongoing archetype maintains its top-tier status. Spectrum's final-turn buff significantly boosts Ongoing abilities. The Luke Cage/Man-Thing synergy is potent, and Luke protects against US Agent. This deck is relatively easy to play, and Cosmo's utility is expected to increase.
Discard Dracula – A Classic Strategy
Cards: Blade, Morbius, The Collector, Swarm, Colleen Wing, Moon Knight, Corvus Glaive, Lady Sif, Dracula, Proxima Midnight, MODOK, Apocalypse
This reliable Apocalypse-based Discard deck incorporates the buffed Moon Knight. Morbius and Dracula are the key high-power cards, aiming for a final-turn Apocalypse/Dracula combo. The Collector can offer unexpected advantages with sufficient Swarm plays.
Destroy – A Consistent Force
Cards: Deadpool, Niko Minoru, X-23, Carnage, Wolverine, Killmonger, Deathlok, Attuma, Nimrod, Knull, Death
The Destroy deck remains largely unchanged, with Attuma's recent buff proving highly effective. Focus on destroying Deadpool and Wolverine, utilize X-23 for extra energy, and finish with Nimrod or Knull. The absence of Arnim Zola reflects the increasing prevalence of counter-measures.
Fun & Accessible Decks:
Darkhawk's Return – A Goofy but Effective Deck
Cards: The Hood, Spider-Ham, Korg, Niko Minoru, Cassandra Nova, Moon Knight, Rockslide, Viper, Proxima Midnight, Darkhawk, Blackbolt, Stature
This deck utilizes Darkhawk's abilities, incorporating Korg and Rockslide to populate the opponent's deck. Spider-Ham, Cassandra Nova, and discard effects enhance its disruptive potential.
Budget Kazar – A Beginner-Friendly Option
Cards: Ant-Man, Elektra, Ice Man, Nightcrawler, Armor, Mister Fantastic, Cosmo, Kazar, Namor, Blue Marvel, Klaw, Onslaught
A simplified version of the Kazar deck, ideal for players with smaller collections. While less consistently victorious, it provides valuable experience with the core Kazar/Blue Marvel synergy.
The September meta is dynamic. The Activate ability and new cards will likely reshape the landscape by October. Keep experimenting and adapting to stay competitive! Happy Snapping!
