Marvel TV Shows: Ranked for Disney+ Domination

Author: Adam Feb 18,2025

Marvel's small-screen adaptations have a rich history, spanning from the classic "Incredible Hulk" to the more recent Netflix series featuring Daredevil and Luke Cage. While previous attempts to integrate these shows into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) often faltered (remember "Runaways"?), 2021 marked a turning point. Marvel Studios launched a series of interconnected Disney+ shows, deeply entwined with the successful film franchise.

With the recent release of "Spider-Man: Freshman Year," the 13th Disney+ Marvel series in just four years, we've compiled a ranking of the preceding 12 shows, based on aggregated scores from IGN's Marvel experts. "Spider-Man: Freshman Year"'s ranking will be added later.

Disney+ Marvel TV Shows Ranked

  1. Secret Invasion

Disney+
Widely considered the weakest Marvel Disney+ series to date, "Secret Invasion" fell short of expectations. Despite the source material's significance in Marvel Comics, the show lacked a compelling narrative. Director Ali Selim's admission of not reading the comics contributed to the disconnect. While MCU adaptations often successfully reinterpret source material, "Secret Invasion" suffered from slow pacing, a jarring AI-generated opening sequence, the unceremonious death of a key female character, and a forgettable new character.

  1. Echo

Disney+
A significant improvement over "Secret Invasion," "Echo" still ranks lower due to a shortened episode count leaving some viewers wanting more. Alaqua Cox reprises her role from "Hawkeye," delivering an action-packed story about Echo's return to her reservation and her struggles with her powers, past, and relationship with Kingpin. The series features impressive action sequences, notably a fight with Daredevil, and boasts a predominantly Indigenous cast and crew. While not as impactful as other entries, it remains a unique and emotionally resonant addition to the MCU.

  1. Moon Knight

Disney+
Starring Oscar Isaac, "Moon Knight" features a compelling premise centered on Marc Spector's multiple personalities. The series blends elements of various genres, including psychological thrillers and action-adventure. While Scarlet Scarab emerged as a standout character, and the cast (including F. Murray Abraham and Ethan Hawke) delivered strong performances, the show didn't resonate enough with viewers to achieve a higher ranking.

  1. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

Disney+
Despite the strong chemistry between Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" faced challenges. Murky moral dilemmas, a heavy reliance on the Blip storyline, and a focus on espionage over action hampered its overall reception. Production delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic likely impacted the final product. Nevertheless, the series' narrative elements have proven crucial to the ongoing MCU storyline.
