Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Returns to the Esports World Cup 2025
Following the apparent success of the Esports World Cup 2024, several game publishers have announced the return of their titles for the 2025 edition. Garena's Free Fire was an early confirmation, and now Moonton's Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) has joined the roster.
The 2024 World Cup featured two MLBB competitions: the MLBB Mid-Season Cup (MSC) and the MLBB Women's Invitational. Teams from around the globe competed in Riyadh. Selangor Red Giants emerged victorious in the MSC, while Smart Omega Empress defeated Team Vitality (holders of a 25-game win streak since 2021) to claim the Women's Invitational title.
A Strong Showing, But Is It Enough?
Most games from the 2024 Esports World Cup appear to be returning. However, many of these games aren't showcasing their premier tournaments at the event. The inclusion of MLBB's mid-season cup, for instance, suggests the Esports World Cup might be considered a secondary event by some. This is a double-edged sword; it avoids overshadowing existing leagues but could also be perceived as less significant than the main championships.
Regardless, fans of the participating games will undoubtedly welcome their return to this prestigious tournament.
