Monster Hunter Wilds Adds Real-Money Microtransactions

Capcom has recently unveiled a new feature in *Monster Hunter Wilds* that lets players customize the appearance of their hunter and Palico. The first customization is complimentary, but any further modifications require purchasing Character Edit Vouchers. These vouchers come in packs of three for $6 or as a combined set for both characters at $10. Without these vouchers, players are limited to altering hairstyles, eyebrow color, makeup, and clothing, with no option to change core facial features.

This monetization strategy was not revealed during the game's initial previews before its official release. It was only last week that Capcom announced this via their social media platforms. Despite the backlash concerning microtransactions and some performance hiccups, *Monster Hunter Wilds* shattered records, boasting over 1.3 million concurrent players on Steam at launch.

Capcom has not yet responded to the community's feedback on this new system. Fans have voiced their discontent with the pay-to-customize model, drawing unfavorable comparisons to earlier games in the series where such changes were free or earned through in-game currency. Many feel that this new approach detracts from what has long been a core and cherished aspect of the franchise.
