Fumi Games and PlaySide Studio have unveiled new details about MOUSE: P.I. For Hire, a game gaining attention for its distinct 1930s cartoon visual style.
A Noir-Inspired First-Person Shooter Adventure
This first-person shooter with noir elements follows private detective Jack Pepper as he unravels mysteries in a world pulsing with jazz and unexpected events. The developers confirmed on their official X account that MOUSE: P.I. For Hire will feature no microtransactions, stating:
"MOUSE: P.I. For Hire will NOT contain microtransactions. We're crafting a breathtaking single-player shooter packed with noir atmosphere and explosive combat sequences, each scene carefully crafted with passion."
Standing Out in the Indie Game Scene
This no-microtransaction policy might seem surprising for a single-player indie shooter where such monetization isn't standard practice. The announcement appears strategically timed to reignite interest in the project.
Vintage Cartoon Aesthetics Meet Noir Storytelling
Drawing inspiration from classic 1930s animation, MOUSE presents a gritty noir experience through its signature rubber-hose visual style. Players step into the shoes of a private eye navigating a crime-ridden city populated by mobsters, gangsters, and other shady characters.
Armed with an arsenal of whimsical weapons and explosives, players will combat corrupt politicians threatening to overthrow a city drowning in chaos and corruption - all while maintaining the game's signature cartoon humor through its health system and enemy designs.
Future Release Window
While no specific launch date has been confirmed, MOUSE: P.I. For Hire is scheduled for release in 2025.
