Netflix Games Drops Two GTA

Netflix Games is losing two major titles next month: Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. This isn't a surprise; Netflix licenses games like movies and TV shows, and these licenses are expiring on December 13th. A "Leaving Soon" tag will alert players before the games disappear.

Why the Departure?

The initial 12-month licensing agreement between Netflix and Rockstar Games is concluding. After December 13th, these two classic GTA titles will be unavailable to Netflix subscribers. While this might seem disappointing, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas remains available on the platform.

What Now?

Fans who haven't completed these games can purchase them individually or as part of a trilogy bundle from the Google Play Store. Each game costs $4.99, or $11.99 for the complete trilogy.

Unlike some past removals from Netflix Games, Netflix is providing advance notice, which is appreciated. Interestingly, the GTA trilogy contributed significantly to Netflix Games' subscriber growth in 2023. Despite this, Rockstar Games has chosen not to renew the license.

Future Possibilities?

Rumors suggest a potential collaboration between Rockstar and Netflix, possibly leading to remastered versions of Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories, and even Chinatown Wars in the future. This remains speculation, but it offers a glimmer of hope for fans.
