Netflix's Gaming Ambitions: 80+ Titles in Development and a Monthly Story Release
Netflix continues to expand its gaming portfolio, with over eighty titles currently under development. This was revealed during a recent earnings call by co-CEO Gregory K. Peters, who also highlighted the service's success in launching over 100 games to date.
A key focus for Netflix Games is leveraging its existing intellectual property (IP). Expect to see several games directly connected to popular Netflix series, encouraging viewers to seamlessly transition between watching a show and playing its corresponding game.
Another significant area of growth is narrative-driven games, spearheaded by the Netflix Stories hub. Peters announced plans to significantly increase the release frequency of Netflix Stories games, aiming for at least one new release per month.
Mobile Gaming Remains Unchanged
Netflix Games initially faced challenges due to low visibility among subscribers. Concerns were raised about the potential impact of shifting to an advertising-supported model. However, Netflix is pressing forward, demonstrating continued growth in its overall streaming service, even without disclosing specific Netflix Games subscriber numbers.
