Nintendo Denies Genki's Switch 2 Showcase Claims
Following the recent CES 2025 event where accessory maker Genki unveiled a purported 3D-printed Nintendo Switch 2 mockup, Nintendo has issued a statement. Both CNET Japan and the Sankei newspaper reported Nintendo's official response: the images and videos are not official, and the hardware showcased by Genki was not provided by Nintendo.
Genki, an American manufacturer of electronics and gaming accessories (including controllers, SSDs, and chargers), created a stir by showcasing the 3D-printed model and allegedly sharing purported release date information with journalists and attendees. Their website even features a dedicated page for upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 accessories, complete with a detailed animated mockup.
Despite Genki's claims, Nintendo has yet to officially reveal details about the Switch 2, aside from confirming backwards compatibility with Switch 1 games. The company has only stated that further announcements are forthcoming, suggesting a formal unveiling may be imminent.
