Nintendo's charming alarm clock, Alarmo, is waking up to a wider release! Coming in March 2025, this interactive alarm clock will be available at major retailers worldwide.
Nintendo's Alarmo: No Switch 2, But Still Exciting News!
Nintendo recently announced on Twitter (X) that the Alarmo alarm clock will receive a broader release in March 2025. This means you'll find it at stores like Target, Walmart, GameStop, and other participating retailers globally. Best of all, the previous requirement of a Nintendo Online membership is being removed, making it accessible to everyone. Alarmo will retail for $99.99 USD.
While many celebrate this news, the anticipation for a Nintendo Switch 2 announcement remains high. Despite the buzz, Nintendo remains silent on the next-generation console.
Initial Release: Instant Hit!
Alarmo's initial release on October 9, 2024, was met with overwhelming demand. In Japan, sales were temporarily suspended on the My Nintendo Store, shifting to a lottery system for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers due to high demand. Simultaneously, Alarmo sold out in a New York City store, with promises of restocking as soon as possible.
Sweet Dreams with Alarmo: Features and Functionality
Alarmo isn't your average alarm clock. Featuring charming sound effects and visuals from beloved Nintendo games like Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Splatoon 3, Alarmo offers 42 selectable scenes, with more promised via free updates (including Animal Crossing: New Horizons!).
Choose your scene, and watch a friendly game character patiently wait on the screen. When the alarm sounds, the character springs into action with gentle sounds. A "visitor" then arrives, and you can gently wave your hand or move to quiet the alarm. Snooze too long, and a more "persuasive" visitor appears, escalating the sound until you finally get up. Thanks to its motion sensor, you don't even need to touch the clock to dismiss the alarm.
Beyond its unique wake-up system, Alarmo adds ambiance with hourly chimes and sleep sounds themed to your chosen scene. It even tracks your sleep patterns, recording time spent in bed and movement levels. For those sharing a bed with others or pets, Nintendo recommends using the "Button Mode." While a Nintendo Online membership was initially required, this will no longer be necessary with the expanded release in March 2025.
