Developer Pocketpair has exciting news for fans of their blockbuster game, Palworld! They've just announced Palworld! More Than Just Pals, a brand-new dating sim set within the universe of their massively popular monster-catching game. And no, this isn't an April Fools' Day prank (this time).

On March 31, the creators of the 2024 survival hit revealed their plans to add a touch of romance to their lineup. Normally, such an announcement would be taken at face value, but with April Fools' Day looming just around the corner, fans are approaching Palworld! More Than Just Pals with a healthy dose of skepticism. The internet will soon be inundated with fake game announcements and other quirky reveals from game developers, making it hard to distinguish the real from the jest.

Pocketpair is keen to dispel any doubts: Palworld! More Than Just Pals is genuinely in development. This intriguing project was inspired by their 2024 April Fools' Day jest, where they initially announced More Than Just Pals as a fake game for laughs. Now, it's a real venture, set to launch on PC via Steam at a date yet to be announced.

Palworld! More Than Just Pals promises to be a unique addition to the Pocketpair universe. The game invites players to enroll as transfer students at the prestigious Palagos Private Academy, where they can befriend and potentially fall in love with a diverse cast of student Pals. Characters like the "cute" and "mysterious" Katress, and the "timid" Chillet, are among the Pals you'll encounter, with their names borrowed from Palworld's creature roster.

"You, the protagonist, enroll as a transfer student in the prestigious Palagos Private Academy," Pocketpair's official description reads. "You will meet unique friends (pals) and enjoy school life through friendship and romance. It's up to you whether you stay friends with the pals, develop romantic relationships with them, or even dismember and eat them."

As Palworld celebrates its one-year anniversary this past January, Pocketpair continues to roll out updates to keep the community engaged. The latest update brought crossplay support, Blueprint upgrades, photo mode, and more, helping to ease the wait for the dating sim. Meanwhile, fans holding out for a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Palworld have a glimmer of hope, but even if that doesn't materialize, there's always the possibility that Palworld!
