Fields of Mistria: Can You Actually Date Your Romance Options?

Fields of Mistria, lauded for its well-developed romance options and engaging storylines, leaves players wondering: can you actually go on dates with your romantic interests?

The short answer is: not yet, officially. However, the existing romance system, even without explicit "dates," is incredibly rich and rewarding, justifying its price tag.

The November 2024 update significantly enhanced the romance system, increasing the relationship level cap from four hearts to six and adding new heart events for each romanceable NPC. These events, featuring playable cutscenes, unlock at two, four, and six hearts, with plans for eight and ten-heart events in future updates. However, the March 2025 update will not include further heart level increases or new events.

While the delay in full-fledged dating might disappoint some, the current romance system shines. The dialogue is realistic and subtly flirty, allowing for romantic interpretations even in seemingly platonic interactions. The progression feels satisfying, building intimacy gradually.

A significant addition in the last update was the Shooting Star Festival. This summer event enables dates with eligible NPCs (requiring four hearts). While a stargazing event with Caldarus is currently available, it doesn't trigger a date at the Summit location like other options. This may change with the March 2025 update, which is slated to unlock the dragon's romance questline.

In conclusion, while official dates aren't currently implemented, Fields of Mistria offers a compelling and deeply engaging romance experience, leaving players plenty to enjoy until the dating feature's arrival.
