Originally released in 1999 for the Game Boy Color, Pokémon Gold and Silver revolutionized the Pokémon world. Praised for their groundbreaking features, including a real-time clock affecting gameplay, and the introduction of 100 new Pokémon (Gen 2), these games quickly became classics. The games' influence extended globally, with Western releases following in 1999 and 2001. The enduring legacy of Gold and Silver is further evidenced by their 2009 Nintendo DS remakes, Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver. Beloved Gen 2 Pokémon like Pichu, Cleffa, Hoothoot, Chikorita, Umbreon, Ho-Oh, and Lugia remain fan favorites to this day.
